The authors present a simple proof of the result \[ J(a,\xi):=\int_{-\infty}^\infty \Gamma(a+it) \Gamma(a-it) e^{-\i\xi t}dt=\frac{2\pi \Gamma(2a)}{(2 \cosh\,(\xi/2))^{2a}} \tag{1} \] valid when Re\,\((a)>0\) based on an integral representation of the beta function. When \(a\) is real, the above result gives the well-known Fourier transform of the function \(|\Gamma(a+it)|^2\). A second-order inhomogeneous differential equation satisfied by \(aJ(a,\xi)\) in the strip \(-1<\text{Re}\,(a)<0\) is derived. By solution of this equation using the method of variation of parameters, it is shown how the extension of (1) to the strip \(-1<\text{Re}\,(a)<0\) can be achieved. The final result is expressed in terms of two quadratures. Finally, the jump in \(J(a,\xi)\) across the imaginary \(a\)-axis is calculated.
