\textit{J. Moorhouse} [J. Funct. Anal. 219, No. 1, 70--92 (2005; Zbl 1087.47032)] characterized when the difference \(C_\phi-C_\psi\) of two composition operators is compact on the standard weighted Bergman spaces of the open unit disk in the complex plane. The interest in this problem stems from its relation with another area of inquiry, namely, the topological structure of the set of all composition operators among the bounded operators. In particular, in [\textit{J. H. Shapiro} and \textit{C. Sundberg}, Pac. J. Math. 145, No. 1, 117--152 (1990; Zbl 0732.30027)], the following question was posed: {do the composition operators that differ from \(C_\phi\) by a compact operator form the component of \(C_\phi\)?} The main goal of the article under review is to provide a generalization of Moorehouse's results to weighted Bergman spaces on the polydisk.
