Stationary solutions to a strain-gradient type thermoviscoelastic system (Q454515)

The authors are interested in the dynamical stability of the stationary states of a thermoviscoelastic system. The considered system arises in the modeling of structural phase transitions in viscoelastic solids. The stationary state is formulated as a nonlinear eigenvalue problem. The semi-dualities of the thermoviscoelasic system are introduced and used for the construction of general results concerning the stability of stationary states. The set of the stationary solutions is also investigated using bifurcation theory.
