For functions \(f\) that are analytic and bounded on a rectangular domain in the complex plane around the origin and real-valued on the real line, the author studies the return times \(\tau \in \mathbb{R}\) such that \(f(\tau) = f(0)\). Using continued \(g\)-fractions of \textit{H. S. Wall} [Analytic theory of continued fractions. New York: D. van Nostrand Company, Inc. (1948; Zbl 0035.03601)], upper und lower bounds for \(\tau\) are given, under certain conditions on \(f\). Similar results are shown when the rectangular domain is replaced by a strip around the real line or a semi-strip. The Sundman-Poincaré method in the Newtonian three-body problem is revisited and applications to the collision detection problem are considered.
