The authors investigate the boundedness and compactness of the localization operator on homogeneous spaces. Precisely, let \(G\) be a locally compact group, \(H\) a closed subgroup of \(G\) and \(\mathcal{H}\) a Hilbert space. Suppose that \(G\backslash H\) is a homogeneous space associated with a Radon measure \(\mu\) on which \(G\) acts from the left. Assume that \(G\backslash H\) has a square integrable representation on \(\mathcal{H}\) with an admissible wavelet \(\zeta\) and \(L^p(G\backslash H)\) (\(p\in[1,\infty]\)) is the space of all \(p\)-integrable Lebesgue functions with respect to a \(G\)-invariant Radon measure. The authors further introduce the localization operator \(L_{\psi,\,\zeta}\) on \(\mathcal{H}\) for all \(\psi\in L^p(G\backslash H)\) (\(p\in[1,\infty]\)) and the admissible wavelet \(\zeta\), and show that, if \(\psi\in L^p(G\backslash H)\) (\(p\in(1,\infty)\)) is a simple function on \(G\backslash H\) satisfying \[ \mu(\{gH\in G\backslash H:\;\psi(gH)\neq 0\})<\infty, \] then there exists a unique bounded linear operator \(L_{\psi,\,\zeta}\) on \(\mathcal{H}\). Moreover, the authors prove that \(L_{\psi,\,\zeta}\) is in the Schatten \(p\)-class and it is a compact operator for all \(p\in[1,\infty]\).
