As mentioned in the title, the authors deal with dissipative hyperbolic equations. In the first section, the authors recall the definition of \(M\), an inertial manifold for a dynamical semigroup \(S(t)\), that is, \(M\) is a finite dimensional smooth manifold, \(M\) attracts exponentially all solution of the following Cauchy problem \[ \frac{dy}{dt}+Ay=F(y), \quad y(0)=y_0, \] \(A\) is a linear operator on a subset of the Hilbert space \(H\), and \(F(y)\) is a Lipschitz linear operator, furthermore, \(M\) is invariant with respect to \(S(t)\), i.e., \(M\) is the set of complete trajectories. By assuming some meaningful conditions on \(A\) -- bearing on the boundedness -- they recall a result on sufficient conditions for an inertial manifold to be the graph of a Lipschitz function on \(P(H)\), the finite dimensional linear space of projections on \(H\), and on the existence of a complete trajectory (Theorem 1). On the second section, they recall another result on the gap property, i.e., the constraint on the Lipschitz constant corresponding to \(F(y)\) (Theorem 2) and they deduce the existence of an inertial manifold for a semigroup associated to a quasilinear hyperbolic equation with weak dissipation. The third section contains the main result. Precisely, they provide sufficient conditions for the existence of an inertial manifold with respect to a hyperbolic equation with strong dissipation and the proof is essentially based on Theorem 1.
