The authors propose and justify a new class of energy stable flux reconstruction (FR) schemes for 3D advection-diffusion problems on tetrahedral elements. These schemes refered to as VCJH (Vincent-Catonguay-Jameson-Huynh) schemes use a specific corrections of the solution and the flux to arrive at stable approximations (provably stable for linear advection-diffusion problems in 1D on triangular elements). Theoretical considerations are supported by numerical experiments on model problems.
