Let \(w\) be the non-trivial element in the Weyl group of \(\mathrm{GL}(2)\), and \(V\) a Kirillov model of an irreducible representation \(\pi\) of \(\mathrm{GL}(2)\). The paper shows over the field of complex numbers, that \(w\) acts as an integral transform with kernel function being classical Bessel functions, on the subset of compactly supported functions in \(V\) (with a further assumption on the representation \(\pi\)). A similar result over the real field was previously established by \textit{E. M. Baruch} and \textit{Z. Mao} [Isr. J. Math. 145, 1--81 (2005; Zbl 1064.22009)]. Here over the complex field, there are many new technical difficulties. While in the real field case the connection with classical Bessel functions is immediate, here the authors need to make some ingenious arguments to establish the connection. Also due to convergence issues, the result holds for a subset of the representations, which does not contain the unitary principal series.
