In the paper under review, the authors show that the homotopy theory of single-colored simplicial operads is equivalent to that of single-colored Segal operads (i.e., dendroidal spaces whose value at the tree \(\eta\) is the point and satisfying the usual Segal condition). The method of proof is to go through the theory of homotopy algebras over the algebraic theory encoding operads. On the one hand there are general comparison results comparing the homotopy theory of strict algebras to that of homotopy algebras for algebraic theories. On the other hand there exists a map from the category \(\Omega\) of dendrices to the algebraic theory encoding operads. It follows that any homotopy algebra for that theory has an underlying dendroidal space. This result was obtained independently by \textit{D.-C. Cisinski} and \textit{I. Moerdijk} by other means in [J. Topol. 4, No. 2, 257--299 (2011; Zbl 1221.55011)]. Using a similar strategy the authors also establish a comparison between the homotopy theory of simplicial operads with group action (i.e. the homotopy theory of pairs \((G,\mathcal O)\) where \(G\) is a simplicial group and \(\mathcal O\) is a simplicial operad with a \(G\)-action) and a certain model structure on the category of reduced simplicial presehaves over \(\Delta\circlearrowright\Omega\). This last category is constructed from \(\Delta\) and \(\Omega\) and is a suitable replacement of \(\Omega\) in this situation.
