Let \(L\) be a CM field and \(\Pi\) a regular algebraic, essentially conjugate, self-dual, cuspidal automorphic representation of \(\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{A}_L)\). Let \(R_\ell(\Pi): \mathrm {Gal}\left( \overline{L}/L \right) \to \mathrm{GL}_n(\overline{\mathbb{Q}_\ell})\) be the Galois representation associated with \(\Pi\) by \textit{G. Chenevier} and \textit{M. Harris} [Camb. J. Math. 1, No. 1, 53--73 (2013; Zbl 1310.11062)] (note that \(R_\ell\) also depends on the choice of an isomorphism \(\iota : \overline{\mathbb{Q}_\ell} \to \mathbb{C}\)). It is shown in [\textit{T. Barnet-Lamb} et al., Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér. (4) 47, No. 1, 165--179 (2014; Zbl 1395.11081)] that, for any place \(v\) of \(L\) dividing \(\ell\), one has the isomorphism of Weil-Deligne representations \[ \mathrm{WD} \left(R_\ell(\Pi)|_{\mathrm{Gal}\left(\overline{L_v}/ L_v \right)} \right)^{\mathrm{ss}} \cong \iota^{-1} \mathrm{rec} \left( \Pi_v \otimes |\det|^{(1-n)/2} \right), \] where \(\mathrm{rec}\) is the local Langlands correspondence, ss denotes semisimplification and WD is the Weil-Deligne representation attached to a (de Rham) \(\ell\)-adic representation of an \(\ell\)-adic field. In the same work it is also shown that the isomorphism holds up to Frobenius-semisimplification, but only under an additional technical assumption on \(\Pi\) (that it has Shin-regular weight; note that this is automatic if \(n\) is odd). The main result of the paper under review is that the assumption of Shin-regularity can be dropped completely. In [Barnet-Lamb et al., loc. cit.], the monodromy operators were computed by exploiting the fact that when \(\Pi\) is Shin-regular the representation \(R_\ell(\Pi)\) occurs in the cohomology of a proper, smooth variety. As this latter fact is not known to hold for non-Shin-regular \(\Pi\)'s, the author considers instead the tensor square of \(\mathrm{WD} \left(R_\ell(\Pi)|_{\mathrm{Gal}\left(\overline{L_v}/ L_v \right)} \right)^{\mathrm{Frob-ss}}\), which is shown to be realized by the log-crystalline cohomology of a certain inverse system of compact Shimura varieties. The desired local-global compatibility is thus reduced to the purity of (a certain part of) this cohomology; the proof is finished by means of a technical generalization of \textit{A. Mokrane}'s spectral sequence [Duke Math. J. 72, No. 2, 301--337 (1993; Zbl 0834.14010)], whose derivation forms a substantial part of the paper.
