The authors study a prime ring \(R\) with characteristic different from 2 and \(L\) a Lie ideal of \(R\) to characterize generalized left derivations, which act as homomorphisms or anti-homomorphisms, where they give the result: Theorem 3.1. Let \(R\) be a prime ring of characteristic different from 2 and \(L\) be a noncommutative square closed Lie ideal of \(R\). Suppose that \(F\colon R\to R\) is a generalized left derivation with associated Jordan left derivation \(d\colon R\to R\). If \(F\) acts as a homomorphism or as an anti-homomorphism on \(L\), then \(F(r)=rq\) for all \(r\in R\) and \(q\in Q_l(R_C)\), which they consider to extend a result of Bell and Kappe, who showed that the behavior of \(\delta\) is somewhat more restricted, by proving that if \(R\) is a prime ring and \(d\) is a derivation of \(R\) which acts as a homomorphism or an anti-homomorphism on a nonzero right ideal of \(R\), then \(\delta=0\) on \(R\). Further, Bell has obtained the above mentioned result for generalized derivations acting on ideals in prime rings. I think, that the paper would become better if the authors add more results, that is not difficult and it gave the paper more importance. The authors should cite some examples in which it is possible to see that the hypotheses are feasible to meet in ring theory.
