No compact Einstein warped products seem to be known in Riemannian geometry except Riemannian products themselves. This article quotes a few results from the literature (without proof) on the non-existence of compact Einstein warped products of certain types, including such where only the base space is assumed to be compact. No new results are mentioned. However, one should distinguish this case from the case of Einstein spaces where an open and dense subset is a warped product. In this case the warping function may have zeros, and the standard sphere is an example.
