The authors of this paper proved in [J. Oper. Theory 67, No. 1, 257--277 (2012; Zbl 1243.47020)] that, for a unilateral weighted backward shift \(T\) on \(\ell^p\), to be hypercyclic it suffices for \(T\) to have an orbit \(\mathrm{Orb}(T,x)\) with a single non-zero limit point. However, the condition in their theorem does not guarantee that the original orbit is in fact dense in \(\ell^p\), as they show in this paper with an example. The present article provides conditions on \(T\) and \(x\) to ensure that the vector \(x\) be cyclic. The necessity of the assumptions in the main result is discussed in two interesting examples.
