Since the pioneering work of \textit{S. Bloch} and \textit{A. Ogus} in [Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér. (4) 7, 181--201 (1974; Zbl 0307.14008)] the so-called coniveau spectral sequence represents a powerful classical tool in the cohomology theory of algebraic varieties. In recent years, the question of its motivic interpretation has become a vivid topic of current research, in particular through a fundamental theorem of \textit{V. Voevodsky} [Ann. Math. Stud. 143, 87--137 (2000; Zbl 1019.14010)] concerning its degeneracy in the case of the cohomology of homotopy-invariant sheaves with transfer. In the paper under review, the author gives a natural interpretation of Voevodsky's theorem by proving the following general result: Theorem 4.1. The coniveau spectral sequence associated with a motivic complex over a perfect field coincides with its hypercohomology spectral sequence induced by the homotopy \(t\)-structure on the triangulated category of motivic complexes. As the author points out, the present note is a sequel to his earlier work [the author, Doc. Math., J. DMV 16, 411--455 (2011; Zbl 1268.14019)] in which he studied the relationship between sheaves with transfer (à la V. Voevodsky) and cycle modules (in the sense of M. Rost). The framework developed there is briefly recalled in Section 1 of the present paper, while Sections 2--4 contain the detailed steps of proof of the main theorem stated above. Finally, Section 5 gives a few examples and applications of the main result, especially in the context of the theory of ``mixed Weil cohomologies'' as developed by \textit{D.-C. Cisinski} and the author in the earlier paper [Adv. Math. 230, No. 1, 55--130 (2012; Zbl 1244.14014)].
