Let \(G\) be one the following classical groups: the symplectic group \(\mathrm{Sp}_{2n}(\mathbb{K})\), the even orthogonal group \(\mathrm{O}_{2n}(\mathbb{K})\) and the odd orthogonal group \(\mathrm{O}_{2n+1}(\mathbb{K})\), where \(\mathbb{K}\) is an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. This paper is devoted to the study of the invariants of the adjoint action of the unipotent subgroup, \(N\), in the nilradical, \(\mathfrak{m}\), of a parabolic subalgebra of the Lie algebra \(\mathfrak{g}=Lie(G)\). In a previous paper [\textit{V. V. Sevostyanova}, J. Math. Sci., New York 171, No. 3, 400--415, (2010; Zbl 1215.14051)], a complete description of the invariant field \(\mathbb{K}(\mathfrak{m})^N\) for any parabolic subalgebra of \(\mathfrak{gl}_n(\mathbb{K})\) was given. Extending the study to parabolic subalgebras of \(\mathfrak{g}\), an estimate for the transcendence degree of the invariant field is obtained in this paper (see Theorem 15). To prove this result the author introduces the notion of expanded basis and constructs an invariant for each element in the basis, which is then proved to form a system of algebraically independent invariants.
