      In this paper, the authors consider the following nonlinear elliptic system \[ \begin{cases} -\operatorname{div}(h_1(|\nabla u|^p)|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u)=\lambda F_u(x,u,v),& \text{in } \Omega\\ -\operatorname{div}(h_2(|\nabla v|^q)|\nabla v|^{q-2}\nabla v)=\lambda F_v(x,u,v),&\text{in } \Omega\\ u=v=0& \text{on } \partial \Omega,\end{cases}\tag{S} \] where \(\Omega \) is a bounded domain with smooth boundary \(\partial\Omega\) in \(\mathbb R^N\, (N\geq 3), 2\leq p,q < N,\, h_1, h_2 \in C(\mathbb R, \mathbb R),\,(F_u, F_v)=\nabla F\) is the gradient of \(F\) and \(\lambda\) is a parameter. Under certain conditions, by applying the minimum principle and mountain pass theorem, the authors prove the nonexistence and existence of nonnegative, nontrivial weak solutions of system \((S)\) for some values of the parameter \(\lambda.\)
