In this paper, two definitions of simplicity for polyadic groups are given: An \(n\)-subgroup \(H\) of an \(n\)-group \((G,f)\) is called normal if \(f(\overline x,x,\ldots,x,h,x)\in H\) for all \(h\in H\) and \(x\in G\). If every normal \(n\)-subgroup of \((G,f)\) is a singleton or is equal to \(G\), then the \(n\)-group \((G,f)\) is called group theoretically simple (GTS, for short). An \(n\)-group \((G,f)\) is universal algebraically simple (UAS), if the only congruence is the equality and \(G\times G\). The classification of GTS and UAS polyadic groups is given. Some necessary and sufficient conditions for a polyadic group to be UAS or GTS are also established.
