The paper presents an implicit difference scheme for the solution of a singularly perturbed heat equation with corner singularity. The singularity at the corner points is due to boundary conditions which are only continuous but do not guarantee smoothness of the derivatives of the solution. The scheme is developed on a uniform time grid and piecewise uniform space grid. The solution of the difference scheme converges uniformly with the order \(O(\tau+N^{-2} \ln^2N)\ln(j+1)\), where \(\tau\) is the time grid, \(j\) is the time index and \(N\) is the number of the space grid. The example presented to demonstrate the scheme shows rapidly convergent solutions with the diffusion coefficient tending to almost zero. A further extension of the scheme to the multidimensional diffusion problem is desired for application purposes.
