The article is devoted to the MHD system with mass diffusion for mean volume velocity \(v\), density \(\rho \), modified pressure \(p\) and magnetic field \(b\) on a space-time cylinder \(\Omega \times (0,T)\), where \(\Omega \subset \mathbb R^3\) is a bounded domain \[ \operatorname {div} v=\operatorname {div} b=0 \] \[ \partial _t\rho +v\cdot \nabla \rho -\lambda \Delta \rho =0 \] \[ \rho \partial _t v+\rho v\cdot \nabla v-\mu \Delta v -\lambda ((v\cdot \nabla)\nabla \rho +(\nabla \rho \cdot \nabla)v) \] \[ -\lambda ^2\nabla \cdot (\frac 1\rho \nabla \rho \otimes \nabla \rho)+\nabla (p+\frac 12| b| ^2)=b\cdot \nabla b \] \[ \partial _t b+(v-\frac \lambda \rho \nabla \rho)\cdot \nabla b-b\cdot \nabla (v-\frac \lambda \rho \nabla \rho)=\Delta b \] with boundary conditions \(v=0\), \(\partial \rho /\partial n=0\), \(b\cdot n=0\), \(\operatorname {curl} b\times n = 0\) on \(\partial \Omega \times (0,T)\) and initial conditions \((\rho ,v,b)(\cdot ,0)=(\rho _0,v_0,b_0)\) in \(\Omega \). It is shown that if \(v\in L^{2q/(q-3)}(0,T;L^q(\Omega))\) for some \(q\in (3,\infty]\), then \[ \rho \in L^\infty (0,T;H^2(\Omega))\cap L^2(0,T;H^3(\Omega)) \] \[ v\in L^\infty (0,T;H^1(\Omega))\cap W^{1,2}(0,T;L^2(\Omega)) \] \[ b\in L^\infty (0,T;H^1(\Omega))\cap L^2(0,T;H^2(\Omega))\cap W^{1,2}(0,T;L^2(\Omega)). \] Consequently, the solution can be extended beyond time \(T\) by the result of the first author [Differ. Integral Equ. 24, No. 11--12, 1037--1046 (2011; Zbl 1249.35247)].
