The aim of this paper is to study the uniqueness property of functions in the extended Selberg class. This is the class of functions which have Dirichlet series representations, analytic continuations and satisfy functional equations. In a recent paper by the third author [Adv. Math. 231, No. 5, 2484--2490 (2012; Zbl 1282.11119)], it was proved that if two Dirichlet series \(L_1(s)\), \(L_2(s)\) in the extended Selberg class have positive degree, have leading coefficients \(a_1(1)=a_2(1)=1\) and have the same functional equation, and if moreover \(L^{-1}_1(c)=L^{-1}_2(c)\) for a single nonzero complex number \(c\), then \(L_1\) and \(L_2\) are identical. This result improved earlier work by \textit{J. Steuding} [Value distribution of \(L\)-functions. Berlin: Springer (2007; Zbl 1130.11044)] and \textit{B. Q. Li} [Adv. Math. 226, No. 5, 4198--4211 (2011; Zbl 1221.11192)]. The paper under review further improves Ki's work by showing that one can remove the assumptions that \(L_1(s)\), \(L_2(s)\) satisfy the same functional equation and that \(a_1(1)=a_2(1)\).
