    Let \(f(X)=X^n-BX + A \in\mathbb Z[X]\), where \(AB\neq 0\). Using Baker's method the authors prove that if \(n > 40000\) and \(f(X)\) has an irreducible quadratic factor in \({\mathbb Z}[X]\), then \(| B| \leq | A| ^{3/2}\) and \(| A| \leq | B| ^{3/2}\).
