The spectrum of Hölder singularities of a function \(f\) is defined as the map that assigns to every \(\alpha\) the Hausdorff dimension of the set of points where \(f\) has Hölder regularity \(\alpha\). A similar definition can be given for the spectrum of \(p\)-singularties, from the \(p\)-exponent introduced in [\textit{A. P. Calderón} and \textit{A. Zygmund}, Stud. Math. 20, 171--225 (1961; Zbl 0099.30103)] based on \(L^p\) norms. The authors study a slight modification of a family of functions introduced by \textit{S. Jaffard} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I 315, No. 1, 19--24 (1992; Zbl 0780.28005)], computing at each point the pointwise Hölder exponent, as well as the \(p\)-exponent. This allows them to prove that for each member of this family the spectra of Hölder singularities and \(p\)-singularities are different, which they call ``the signature of an oscillating behavior of `chirp' type''. Moreover, certain multifractal formalism type formulas [\textit{S. Jaffard} and \textit{C. Mélot}, Commun. Math. Phys. 258, No. 3, 541--565 (2005; Zbl 1081.28007)], which are heuristic formulas for which the domain of validity is not exactly known, are shown to hold for these spectra of singularities.
