The authors present some special cases of matrices and discuss their various properties and applications. In particular, they consider the Pairwise Comparison Matrices (PCM) with deterministic and fuzzy elements and discuss their applications in the decision making process. The second family of matrices that they discuss are the matrices in max-min algebra. In Chapter 1, basic concepts and results are presented, in particular t-norms and t-conorms, fuzzy sets, numbers and relations, triangular fuzzy sets and abelian linearly ordered groups (alo-groups). Chapter 2 deals with PCM, while Chapter 3 with PCM with fuzzy elements. In Chapter 4 ,the authors study the minimax problems, where the expressions of the form \(\max_{j\in J}\left\{\min\left\{a_j,r_j(x_j)\right\}\right\}\) are involved in the relations (either on one or both sides). In Chapter 5, the authors study the eigenproblem in the Max-Min Algebra, while in Chapter 6 - the eigenproblems in Max-Drast and Max-Łukasiewicz Algebra. In each chapter some theory is presented and followed by description of solving methods and examples. The book is a valuable contribution, useful for both graduate students and researchers.
