Let \(A,B\) be positive selfadjoint operators in Hilbert space \(\mathcal H\). If \(\operatorname{dom}(A^{1/2})\cap\operatorname{dom}(B^{1/2})\) is dense in \(\mathcal H\) then there exists a unique positive selfadjoint operator \(C\) for which \(\operatorname{dom}(C)\subset\operatorname{dom}(A^{1/2})\cap\operatorname{dom}(B^{1/2})\) and for all \(f\in \operatorname{dom}(C)\), \(g\in \operatorname{dom}(A^{1/2})\cap\operatorname{dom}(B^{1/2})\) it holds \((Cf,g)=(A^{1/2}f,A^{1/2}g)+(B^{1/2}f,B^{1/2}g)\). \(C=A\dotplus B\) is said to be the form sum of \(A\) and \(B\). In the paper under review, characterizations of the domain, the kernel and the range spaces of the form sum of the Krein-von Neumann extensions \(A_N\), \(B_N\) of positive operators \(A,B\) is given. In addition, a criterion for the closedness of the range of the form sum is given. For form sums with closed range, the Moore-Penrose pseudoinverse is constructed.
