The author studies the behavior of solutions to the Cauchy problem for a semilinear heat equation with supercritical nonlinearity \[ \begin{cases} u_t=\Delta u +| u|^{p-1}u, & x\in \mathbb R^N,\;t>0,\\ u(x,0)=u_0(x), & x\in \mathbb R^N \end{cases} \] with \(p>1\) and a continuous function \(u_0\) decaying to zero az \(| x|\to\infty\). It is known that two solutions approach each other if the initial data are close enough near the spatial infinity. In the paper under review, the author obtains the sharp convergence rate in the weighted norms for a class of initial data. The technique of the proofs relies on a comparison method based on matched asymptotics expansions.
