The authors investigate density dependent Markov population processes with countably many types. They formulate a model that is general enough to encompass many host parasite systems and structured metapopulation models. The main tool used in showing the asymptotic independence of individuals in such processes is to couple the process describing the evolution of individuals in the original system with one in which evolve independently. It is shown that the individuals also exhibit diffusive stochastic fluctuation on a smaller scale about their deterministic path. The theoretical results are used to discuss two examples.
