Let \(H=\{f:\int^\infty_0|f(t) |(1+t)^{-n}dt <\infty\) for some positive integer \(n\}\), \(f\) being a Lebesgue measurable function on \([0, \infty)\). For \(f\in H\), the Szász-Baskakov type operators are \[ B_n(f;x)= \sum^{i= \infty}_{i=0} q_{n,i}(x)\int^\infty_0 b_{n,i}(t)f(t)dt, \] where \(x\in [0,\infty)\), \(q_{n,i}(x)= (i!)^{-1} e^{-nx}(nx)^i\), \(b_{n,i}(t)=B^{-1}(i+1,n)t^i (1+t)^{-n-i-1}\). The main result of this paper is the following theorem. Let \(f \in H\) be a bounded function on every finite subinterval of \([0,\infty)\) admitting a derivative of order \(2k+r+2\) at a fixed point \(x\geq 0\). If \(f(t)=O(t^\alpha)\) as \(t\to\infty\) for some \(\alpha>0\), then \[ \lim_{n\to \infty}n^{k+1} (B_n^{(r)} (f,k+1,x)- f^{(r)} (x))=\sum_{i=r}^{2k+r+2} f^{(i)}(x)Q(i,k,r,x), \] where \(B_n (f,k,x)= \sum^{j=k}_{j=0}C(j,k)Bd_jn(f,x)\), \(C(0,0)=1\), \(C(j,k)= \prod^k_{i=0,i \neq j}d_j(d_j-d_i)^{-1}\), \(d_0,d_1, \dots,d_k\) are arbitrary but fixed distinct positive integers and \(Q(i,k,r,x)\) are certain polynomials in \(x\).
