Consider the virus model \[ \begin{aligned} {dx\over dt} &= \lambda- dx-\beta xz,\\ {dy\over dt} &= -ay+\beta xz,\\ {dz\over dt} &= ky-uz\end{aligned} \] describing the interaction between healthy cells \((x)\), infected cells \((y)\) and free viruses \((z)\), where \(\beta\), \(\lambda\), \(a\), \(k\) and \(u\) are nonnegative parameters with biological meaning. The author provides a complete classification of the invariant algebraic surfaces and of the rational first integrals. The proofs are based on weight-homogeneous polynomials and the method of characteristic curves for solving linear partial differential equations.
