The Lyashko-Looijenga covering is used to construct (or to prove the existence of) perturbations of simple singularities with prescribed topological properties, such as singularity types of different critical points, intersection matrices of vanishing cycles etc. The article proposes several problems about local monodromy groups of singularities, Lyashko-Looijenga maps, integral geometry, and topology of spaces of real algebraic manifolds.
