In a previous work [\textit{C. F. Dunkl}, Monatsh. Math. 126, No. 3, 181-209 (1998; Zbl 0912.33007)] the author studied properties of the operator \(V\) in the intertwining relation \(T_iV=V\partial/ \partial x_i\), with \(T_i\) denoting the type \(A\) Dunkl operator (a differential-difference operator consistent with the symmetries of the type \(A\) root system). In the present work, which relies heavily on the above cited previous work, a similar study of the operator \(V\) is made in the type \(B\) case. The main results of the paper are the construction of an ordered basis of polynomials on which \(V\) acts as a triangular matrix, the determination of the diagonal entries and an eigenspace decomposition. In preparation for the latter, a new basis for homogeneous polynomials are constructed as eigenfunctions of the first \(l\) Cherednik operators familiar from the theory of non-symmetric Jack polynomials (the latter are simultaneous eigenfunctions of all the Cherednik operators). For the entire collection see [Zbl 0922.00020].
