Dynamics of quasi-stable dissipative systems (Q495605)

This monograph brings together several important and interesting models of infinite dimensional dimensional evolutionary equations, studied from the long-term dynamics and stability point of view, from abstract parabolic problems, such as 2D hydrodynamical systems and Hopf's models of turbulence, to second order evolution equations and delay equations. All the models are presented with clear and rigorous mathematical theory, which is beautifully developed along two chapters. The theory of dissipative systems has received great attention in the 1980s, with the study of turbulence, and since then, has been the research topic for several important mathematicians, such as Babin, Vishik, Chepyzhov, Chueshov, Hale, Raugel, Ladyzhenskaya, Robinson, Langa, Carvalho, Caraballo, Sell, You, Temam, among many others. In this book, not only a method of quasi-stability for second order time models with nonlinear damping is presented, but rather an improved method, that can be applied in all the presented models.
