The paper under review shows that both the Koszul braces [\textit{J.-L. Koszul}, in: Élie Cartan et les mathématiques d'aujourd'hui, The mathematical heritage of Elie Cartan, Semin. Lyon 1984, Astérisque, No.Hors Sér. 257--271 (1985; Zbl 0615.58029)] and \textit{K. Börjeson} braces [J. Gen. Lie Theory Appl. 9, Article ID 1000214, 5 p. (2015; Zbl 1357.16022)] are the twistings of the trivial \(L_{\infty}\)- (respectively, \(A_{\infty}\)-) algebra by a specific automorphism of the underlying coalgebra. Using the twisting, the author constructs interesting examples of \(A_{\infty}\)- and \(L_{\infty}\)-braces, proves a number of properties of the braces, and translates the obtained results to the Lie algebra case discussing \(C_{\infty}\)-braces. In the last part of this work the author presents characterizations of Koszul \(L_{\infty}\)-braces and Börjeson \(A_{\infty}\)-braces and proves that actually all natural braces are the twistings by unique automorphisms.
