The aim of this paper is to analyze operator splitting for the Benjamin-Ono equation, \[ u_t=uu_x+Hu_{xx}, \] where \(H\) denotes the Hilbert transform. The Benjamin-Ono equation models the evolution of weakly nonlinear internal long waves. If the initial data are sufficiently regular, the authors show the convergence of both Godunov and Strang splittings.
