The generalized topology from the title concerns spaces defined and developed in [\textit{H. Delfs} and \textit{M. Knebusch}, Locally semialgebraic spaces. Lect. Notes Math. 1173 (1985; Zbl 0582.14006)] and [\textit{A. Piękosz}, Ann. Pol. Math. 107, No. 3, 217--241 (2013; Zbl 1268.54002)]. The present paper deals mostly with compactness and compactifications in this context, with some emphasis on Wallman-like compactifications. The authors also point out when and how much of the axiom of choice is needed to prove certain results; the ultrafilter theorem features prominently. Unfortunately, even though the paper contains a whole slew of definitions, the definition of a generalized topological space is not given, nor that of a few other notions such as strict continuity. Reference is made to the works mentioned above but if these are not available to the reader then much of the present paper will be meaningless.
