The purpose of this paper is to study the flow past an obstacle in gas dynamics and fluid mechanics, a classical and important problem. Some parameters in the discussion thus have a well-defined physical interpretation. The pertinent Boltzmann system of equations is derived and a few statements about the existence and uniqueness of solutions to this problem in arbitrary dimension \(n\geq 3\) are recalled. Several notations for Banach spaces, like multiplication operator, convolution operator and Laplace transformation are used in the paper. The main theorem asserts the existence of a global-in-time solution to a certain equation. The proofs are made in several steps and use Duhamel's principle, contraction mapping theorem, Laurent series, second resolvent identity, Hölder inequality, Fubinis theorem, Minkowski integral inequality, triangle inequality, Gronvall inequality, Riesz-Thorin interpolation theorem, and Greens formula.
