The authors consider a phase Stefan problem with the unknown functions \(u(t,x) \) and \(h(t)\) \[ u_t = u_{xx} - \beta u_x + A(x-c_*t)u - b u^2, \;t>0, \;0< x< h(t), \] \[ u_x(t,0) = 0, \;u(t,h(t)) = 0, \;t> 0, \] \[ -\mu u_x(t,h(t)) = h'(t), \;t> 0, \] \[ u(0,x) = u_0(x), \;0 \leq x \leq h_0, \] where \(c_*, \;h_0=h(0), \;\mu, \;b\) are positive constants, \(\beta = \mathrm{const}\), \(A(\xi)\) is a Lipschitz continuous function on \(\mathbb{R}\) such that \(A(\xi)=\left\{a_0, \;\xi <-l_0, \atop a, \;\xi \geq 0, \right. \) and \(A(\xi)\) is strictly increasing on \([-l_0,\, 0], \;l_0 > 0, \;a_0< 0, \;a> 0\). They study the influence of the coefficient \(\beta\) in the equation of the problem on the asymptotic behavior of the positive solution \((u(t,x), h(t))\) as \(t \to \infty.\) For a free boundary \(h(t)\) it is proved that there exist \(\beta^* <0\) and \(\beta_* > 0\) such that for \(\beta \in (\beta^*,\,\beta_*)\), \ \(\beta = \beta_*\) one of the cases takes place: (i) \(\lim_{t\to \infty} h(t) = h_\infty < +\infty,\) (ii) \(\lim_{t\to \infty} h(t)/t = \tilde{c}(\beta)\), (iii) \(\lim_{t\to \infty} (h(t)-c_*t) = \left\{L_*, \;\;\;\beta \in (\beta^*,\,\beta_*), \atop +\infty , \;\;\;\beta = \beta_*, \right.\) and for \(\beta \leq \beta^*\) \(\lim_{t\to \infty} h(t) = h_\infty < +\infty.\) The limits and behavior of \(u(t,x)\) as \(t\to \infty\) in the same dependence on a coefficient \(\beta\) are also determined.
