The localization of triangulated categories has been developed by \textit{J.-L. Verdier} [Lect. Notes Math. 569, 262--311 (1977; Zbl 0407.18008); Des catégories dérivées des catégories abéliennes. Paris: Société Mathématique de France (1996; Zbl 0882.18010)]. The author extends the Verdier's localization theory to pretriangulated categories, for which the octahedral axiom is not assumed. Given a pretriangulated category \(\mathcal{C}\) and a localizing class \(S\), the fulfillment of the axiom \(TR3\) in the localized category \(\mathcal{C}[S^{-1}]\) is guaranteed by some condition on the class \(S\). Further, a weakness of the condition \((S6)\) is obtained to assure the fulfillment of the axiom \(TR3\) in the category \(\mathcal{C}[S^{-1}]\) as well.
