The author presents some generalizations of the results from \textit{X. Chen} [J. Differ. Geom. 56, No. 2, 189--234 (2000; Zbl 1041.58003)], to the setting of Kähler metrics with cusp singularities along a divisor. Consider a compact Kähler manifold, \((X,\omega_0, J)\), of complex dimension \(m\), in which one considers a divisor \(D\) with simple normal crossings. In the first section of the paper, the author presents some examples and analytic preliminaries in the setting of Kähler metrics of Poincaré type. After recalling a model for such metrics, he focuses on extending quickly a few notions required when dealing with the geometry of a space of Kähler metrics and constant scalar curvature metrics, such as Mabuchi metric and \(K\)-energy. This leads to the equation of geodesics in the considered space of metrics. One can consider also the potentials. At the end of this section there are some generalizations of the previous results such as the Poincaré inequality and the definition of the Poincaré-type metrics. In Section 2, a formal solving of the equation of geodesics is presented, by adapting Chen and Block's techniques to the present framework, particularly using a continuity method for a homogeneous Monge-Ampère equation, similar to that of Chen. By using the Poincaré setting, the author can bypass some difficulty raised by the boundary at infinity and the boundary at finite distance, by replacing balls of coordinates by balls of local covering coordinates (quasi-coordinates), or using an adapted maximum principle in which the boundary is replaced by an appropriate set. In Section 3, the author states the logarithmic Calabi-Yau theorem which is used in the next two sections to construct (assuming the ampleness of the line bundle \(K_X[D]\)) metrics of Poincaré-type with negative Ricci forms). A weighted \(\partial\overline{\partial}\)-lemma is proved. In Section 4, the logarithmic Calabi-Yau theorem is proved, following a rather classical progression (\(C^0\), first, second, third, and higher order estimates) concerning the uniform control and the decay properties of approximate solutions. As an application of the construction of approximate geodesics and metrics with negative Ricci forms, the author gives in Section 5 a uniqueness result for Kähler metrics of Poicaré-type with constant scalar curvature, under the technical assumption of the ampleness of the line bundle \(K_X[D]\). This uniqueness does not need to be considered up to the action of some \(D\)-parallel automorphism group of \(X\), since there is no nontrivial holomorphic vector field \(L^2\) for a Poincaré-type metric when \(K_X[D]\) is ample. At the end of Section 5, the author presents a short outline of the proof of the uniqueness theorem which follows closely that of Chen for the compact case.
