The work is the extension and refinement of the work done by \textit{K. Guo} and \textit{D. Labate} [SIAM J. Imaging Sci. 2, No. 3, 959--986 (2009; Zbl 1175.42012); J. Fourier Anal. Appl. 18, No. 3, 488--516 (2012; Zbl 1317.42027); Appl. Comput. Harmon. Anal. 27, No. 1, 24--46 (2009; Zbl 1169.42018)] by using a different shearlet system. A construction of \(3D\) continuous shearlet transform i.e., a pyramid adapted shearlet transform associated with compactly supported shearlets has been introduced. Compact supportedness of these shearlets allowed for uniform estimates on the decay rates of \(2D\) shearlet transforms. It has been shown that this construction yields superior results to the classical band limited transform in the context of edge classification. Due to the high localization of this shearlet system, the problem of detection of point-like singularities which occur on two curves cross has been resolved. Geometric properties of curvature in \(2D\) and \(3D\) shearlet systems have been studied.
