The paper deals with the properties of the rings of single variable real analytic functions or complex entire functions (they are together denoted by \({\mathbb K}\!\langle z\rangle\), where \(\mathbb K\) denotes one of the fields \(\mathbb R\) and \(\mathbb C\)). It is shown that every ideal of \({\mathbb K}\!\langle z\rangle\) is a discrete \(z\)-ideal and that every prime ideal of \({\mathbb K}\!\langle z\rangle\) is contained in a unique maximal ideal of \({\mathbb K}\!\langle z\rangle\). It is also shown that there is a bijective continuous map between the sets \(\beta{\mathbb K}\backslash Q({\mathbb K})\) and \(\theta{\mathbb K}\), where \(\beta{\mathbb K}\) is the Stone-Čech compactification of \(\mathbb K\), \(Q({\mathbb K})\) is the collection of all far points of \(\beta{\mathbb K}\) and \(\theta\mathbb K\) is the set of all indexed discrete \(z\)-ultrafilters (i.e., indexed maximal discrete \(z\)-filters). Moreover, it is shown that the Krull dimension of the set of all convergent power series with coefficients belonging to \(\mathbb K\) is at least the cardinality of \(\mathbb R\).
