In [Algebra Number Theory 8, No. 10, 2433--2469 (2014; Zbl 1387.11033)], the author constructed a \(p\)-adic measure with values in the space of \(p\)-adic automorphic forms on a unitary group \(U(n,n)\) of signature \((n,n)\). If \(\phi\) is a Hermitian form of dimension \(n\), the hermitian form \(\phi \oplus {-\phi}\) (of dimension \(2n\)) has signature \((n,n)\) and there is an embedding of the product \(U(\phi) \times U(-\phi)\) of unitary groups into \(U(n,n)\). Moreover, there is a pullback of automorphic forms on \(U(n,n)\) to automorphic forms on \(U(\phi) \times U(-\phi)\). In the present paper, differential operators are defined that map forms on \(U(n,n)\) to forms on \(U(\phi) \times U(-\phi)\). Here and throughout the article, automorphic forms on unitary groups are viewed either as functions on a Hermitian symmetric space or as functions on a unitary group or as a section of a vector bundle over a Shimura variety. There is also a \(p\)-adic analogue to the differential operators mentioned above. Using the results of [loc. cit.] and these differential operators, \(p\)-adic families of automorphic forms are constructed.
