This paper is concerned with the study of the extended Holstein-Hubbard model, which describes the interplay between electron-electron and electron-phonon couplings. The main purpose of this paper is to study the competition between the phases in the system described by this model. Some important contributions in this paper are the following: (i) it is showed that the system is half-filled with electrons; (ii) it is given an extension of the Dyson-Lieb-Simon inequality; (iii) the author aims to apply reflection positivity to the study of phase transitions of a model of interacting electrons with complex hopping matrix elements.
