Let \((M,g)\) be a compact Riemannian with boundary. Enumerate the eigenvalues of the Dirichlet Laplacian in the form \(\lambda_1(M,g)<\lambda_2(M,g)\leq\dots\). A Theorem of Courant yields that if \(\phi_k\) is an eigenfunction for \(\lambda_k(M,g)\), then \(\phi_k\) has at most \(k\) nodal domains; if equality holds, then \(\lambda_k\) is said to be \textit{Courant sharp}. The authors show that the only Courant-sharp eigenvalues of the equilateral torus are the first and second eigenvalues and that the only Courant-sharp eigenvalues of the equilateral triangle are the first, second, and fourth eigenvalues. The authors sketch similar results for the right-angled isosceles triangle and for the hemiequilaterial triangle showing the only Courant-sharp eigenvalues are the first and the second in these instances.
