The authors investigate the interplay between the heat semigroup on \(\mathbb{R}^N\) and the heat semigroup on the sector of \(\mathbb{R}^N\) given by \(\Omega_m=\left\{(x_1,x_2,\ldots,x_N)\in \mathbb{R}^N;\,\,x_i>0,\,\,i=1,\ldots,m\right\},\) where \(m\) is a nonnegative integer in \([1,N]\). They show that the heat semigroup is well-defined on the Banach space \({\mathcal X}_{m,\gamma}=\{\psi:\Omega_m\to\mathbb{R}:\,\,|x|^{\gamma+2m}(\Pi_{i=1}^M x_i)^{-1}\psi(x)\in L^{\infty}(\Omega_m)\}\), \(0<\gamma<N\), and that it is a bounded map from \({\mathcal X}_{m,\gamma}\) to \(C_0(\Omega_m)\). They then study the large time behavior of solutions of the heat equation \(u_t-\Delta u=0\) for \(t>0\) and \(x\in \Omega_m\), which is related to the spatial asymptotic behavior of its initial value. New results for the asymptotic behavior of solutions for the heat equation on the whole space are also presented.
