Arakelov theory provides a framework to a good intersection theory for arithmetic divisors using differential geometry of the fibre at infinity. It became popular after Fatings' proof of Mordell's conjecture. Based on works [\textit{A. Chambert-Loir} and \textit{A. Ducros}, ``Formes différentielles rélles et courants sur les espaces de Berkovich'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1204.6277}], where differential forms and currents in Berkovich spaces were introduced, the authors expand Arakelov theory in higher dimensions, this was preceding by works of Chinburg and Ramey, and Zhang in the case of curves. Another ingredient is the thesis [\textit{C. Christensen}, Erste Chernform und Chambert-Loir Maße auf dem Quadrat einer Tate-Kurve. (Ph.D. thesis) Tübingen: Universität Tübingen (2013)], where the first Chern form is defined as a tropical divisor on the skeleton of the Tate elliptic curve \(E^2\). The authors extend the space of differential forms on the nonarchimedean analytification of an algebraic variety by so-called \(\delta\)-forms, a corresponding generalization of the Poincaré-Lelong formula is proven. These technics are used to obtain a functorial formula for the nonarchimedean local heights of proper varieties.
