Let \(D\) be a proper domain of \(\mathbb{R}^n\), \(n\geq 2\). The Cassinian metric of \(D\) is defined by \[ c_D(x,y)=\sup_{p\in \partial D}\frac{|x-y|}{|x-p||p-y|}. \] In the paper under review the authors obtain some inequalities between \(c_D\) and other metrics such as hyperbolic metric, distance ratio metric, and visual angle metric. The authors also give the sharp inequality for the distortion property of the Cassinian metric \(c_{\mathbb{B}^n}\) under the Möbius transformations of the unit ball \(\mathbb{B}^n\). The inner Cassinian metric \(\tilde{c}_D(x,y)\) is defined by the infimum of the Cassinian length of all rectifiable curves connecting \(x\) and \(y\) in \(D\). The authors prove its monotonicity with respect to domains and give some examples for specific domains.
