The convergence of the Euler method is studied in application for the time integration of an abstract, quasilinear hyperbolic evolution equation. Such an abstract setting includes quasilinear Maxwell's and wave equations as special cases. The analysis shows that the Euler approximations are well-posed and convergent of order one. Both the semi-implicit and the implicit Euler methods are analysed. The applied techniques can be extended for the numerical analysis of higher-order time integration methods.
