A \(p\)-group \(G\) (not necessarily finite) is said to be a \(P_1\)-group if for any \(n\), \(\mho_n(H) = \{h^{p^n}\mid h \in H\}\) for each finite section \(H\) of \(G,\) and \(G\) is said to be a \(P_2\)-group if for any \(n\), exp\((\Omega_n(H)) \leq p^n\) for each finite section \(H\) of \(G\). \textit{A. Mann} [J. Algebra 42, 121--135 (1976; Zbl 0368.20012)] investigated the finite \(P_i\)-groups, \(i=1, 2\). The authors extend this research to locally nilpotent \(p\)-groups. They prove that a locally nilpotent \(P_i\)-group \(G\) with \(|G:\mho_1(G)|\leq \infty\) is an extension of a divisible abelian group by a finite \(p\)-group and get the structure of infinite locally nilpotent \(p\)-groups which are not \(P_i\)-groups, but all of whose proper infinite subgroups are \(P_i\)-groups. Moreover, they show that locally nilpotent \(P_i\)-groups with all subgroups subnormal are nilpotent.
