Cardinal interpolation on equally spaced (usually integer) data is an important tool for approximation; in use are splines (piecewise polynomials usually of odd integer degree if the knots between individual pieces are on the same grid), radial basis functions (multiquadrics, Gauss kernels, Poisson kernels, inverse multiquadrics, odd powers of \(r\), etc.) and other linear function spaces. Of interest are existence, uniqueness, convergence and stability properties of the thereby formed approximants (interpolants). The data \(\{f(j)\}\) that are given for \(j\) from the grid are usually required to be bounded (finite discrete Chebyshev norm) or absolutely- or square-summable. The current paper nicely generalises this approach to \(\ell^p\) data.
