Explicit reciprocity laws in the rational function field \({\mathbb F}_q[T]\) are a lot easier to prove than the corresponding results in cyclotomic number fields. Burde's rational reciprocity law in the ordinary integers holds for primes \(p = a^2 + b^2\) and \(q = A^2 + B^2\), where \(a\) and \(A\) are odd, and states that if \((\frac pq) = 1\), then \((\frac pq)_4 (\frac qp)_4 = (-1)^{(q-1)/4} (\frac{aB-bA}q)\). The analog of Burde's reciprocity law for polynomials \(P, Q \in {\mathbb F}_q[T]\) was proved by \textit{C.-N. Hsu} [J. Number Theory 101, No. 1, 13--31 (2003; Zbl 1115.11069)]. This is extended to a rational \(2^n\)-th reciprocity law in the present article. The proof is based on the general \(n\)-th power reciprocity law in the function fields \({\mathbb F}_q[T]\).
